The PACER Test
What is the PACER test?
The PACER is a test used to measure one’s cardiovascular endurance. Put simply, it measures how well the heart and lungs help deliver oxygen to the working muscles, or how long one can run before tiring.
At the K-1 level, emphasis is placed on participation and having fun, not so much on achieving a high score. It is great to see students work hard to get a high score, but the most important thing is that the student is learning how to run the test and how to pace. At the K-1 level, students run the 15M PACER test and my goal is that every student can run at least 10 laps. At the 2-4th grade level, students run the 20M PACER test and the emphasis is on personal goal setting, strategies for improving your score, and increasing cardiovascular endurance.
